"Meditative Atmosphere" is a performance created as a support piece for my practice in this Final Year at Fine Art.
The movement was limited, everything was about reflection and facial expressions. The props were limited but important were the emotions I conveyed: melancholy, meditation, sadness, a dark place for the mind. Unfortunately, the video with my performance was lost, but I am able to share some images with the result.
The performance was not completely silent; I created a monologue to complete the ambiance. Here is part of my script to offer you "a complete overview": 'There is too much pressure on something that should express just freedom. I should be creative and happy but then it comes the external questioning about the next step and research after research and about the concept and why and how… it transforms the beauty of spontaneity into a burden. It eliminates the happiness from my process and adds internal overthinking. Instead of: keep going; I got more questions and more tasks to do. Overthinking. Overwhelming. Stress. Insufficiency. Not enough. Do more. Make art but in our standards not in your way. When the very personal art is no more personal… how to be happy with the result?!'
